Holding on to your idealisms

"The great challenge of adulthood is holding on to your idealism after you lose your innocence."
– Bruce Springsteen

Pretty nice quote and has a very deep meaning.

I would say that I was not able to hold on to some of my idealisms as a kid. You know growing up with my aunts in the province, I can say that most of my values came from them. As a child, I was told of what is right from wrong, to love God, be an obedient child, be a modest if not conservative woman. I was told of the rules by the books.

As I grow older, hopefully, I have become wiser. My idealisms are now being formed by experiences that I encounter as days go by. Each cycle in my life has different phases and faces thus; one ideal cannot be applied to all.

I might have committed some mistakes, tasted pain, or sometimes become victorious over some trials along the way. One thing, I learned, I should stick to basic idealism of what is right. It might not be the best decision for a certain situation but at least it is always something you can defend and depend

About Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen, the American rock star known as The Boss, was famously called the future of rock and roll by rock critic Jon Landau in 1974, who later became his manager. He was born in 1949 in New Jersey. Seen as Dylanesque early in his career, he became associated with his blue-collar roots, writing songs about regular people on such albums as Born in the USA and The Rising. Manic Monday - Quake

I can share two words about quake.

Earthquake - It was July 16, 1990 when the Philippines encountered the biggest earthquake. I was on my first year college then. I was lucky because I did not feel it nor affected. We were actually having our math class that time. Then after the class, the news came out that there was an earth quake and many died.

My last encounter of the earthquake was last quarter of 2007 and I was in the office that time. I felt it that time and I was most afraid. I was in the sixth floor and my chair rocked! I wanted to go under my table and hide or go downstairs. I called up my husband and asked if they were okay. He said that they were perfectly fine and did not feel any earthquake at all.

On the lighter side, let me share my second word...you guess it right! Quaker oats! My favorite breakfast. Now that we are into wellness, this fiber enriched meal will really help. I just hope that I can keep up shying away from the precious rice. Yes, its price is going higher and higher. So, eat Quaker oats and we are also helping to converse our most valuable grain.

Now, finally, I hope that I can really be active in writing here again. I was away for three days and I miss all of you. Actually, I have written some articles before I go for my three day hiatus...I tried to post those here but my connection in that early morning of Friday did not permit me to.

I wrote about Kristy Lee Cook.

Okay, I do not like that remark neither. Finally? I just cannot think of a title. Anyways, there she is, Ms. Kristy Lee Cook. At least she had proven her worth contrary to what Simon had told her that the farthest she can go is to the Top 12.She made it to Top 7. There could be some intrigues along the way but what can she do? America loves her!

I liked Kristy during the time that it was she and Amada left at the bottom two. She was shocked that it was not her that got the lowest number of votes. I wonder what she was saying to Amanda then. I thought that maybe she was apologizing because she knows that Amada was far better than she was.

American Idol is a singing competition plus many other factors. Keeping Kristy is not one of them. However, the girl was able to go through the contest with excellence. My friend said though that somehow, her head had grown big getting back at Simon with a not so good comment. Maybe, it was just her way to gain more confidence.

Anyways, Kristy is very beautiful. I wish her all the luck!

Just now, I downloaded David Cook's rendition of "My Baby" by Mariah Carey. It was really amazing. I will write a full account of David when he already won the title. Do you agree?

I am back!

My last post was last April 8 and it was just a picture! Now, I am back! Oh, I really miss writing but I had no time for the past days. It was draining having worked for 5 days straight! I do not like schedules like that. At least that was finished. I survived the sun! Yeah, the heat of the sun here seemed getting all my energy each day. No one would like to get outside and just prefers to enjoy the free air conditioning provided by the office. In times like this, if people will go out, they would love to go at the malls or else, electricity bills might shoot up. You would literally melt down because of the high temperature. It is causing me some migraine also. So, when I get home from work, all I want to is to go straight to our bedroom where a small box is giving some cold air.

So, what is new? I even missed watching American Idol Top Eight Performance and Idol Gives Back. I was able to take a glimpse at the elimination night though that Michael Johns finally bid goodbye. Oh, we like him! Girls in my work place talks about him. He has the looks of an actor. He is so charming! I still hope that he will be around. But, he is married, right? In Philippines showbiz, it is a disadvantage if you are already tied up with someone. It is somehow harder to groom, especially if your target audience are women.

Only three boys left at A.I. Amazing that the girl Cook has stayed alive! Was she good at her last rendition? I had to watch her at You Tube, I guess. I don’t know. It seems like that A.I. is not that exciting as compared to the past seasons. Or, should I say that it is predictable this early. What do you think?

Heads or Tails- Express

Come to think of it, there are lots of expressions that can be seen depending on your mood, situation or anything you would like to project. Thus came terms like:

blank face
poker face

Can you think of anything else?

Here is a list of expressions from Wikipedia:

At one point or another, we have expressed all of the above. My favorite is happiness...that is one expression that I would always want to wear and hopefully be in that state most of the time. Oh, not crazy, huh! Just happy and joyful!

Manic Monday- One Thousand

Happy Monday every one! I cannot think of one thousand stories and it made me realized that I have to go back reading. Anyways, here is my share for today's theme.

Yes, it is our one thousand Peso bill! I would love to receive many of those! But, of course, the bill below is better. One thousand dollars! I would prefer that one thousand times! After all, a Dollar is equal to forty Pesos as of press time.

I will always love you

At first, I was surprised when Syesha sang "I will always love you". As I was listening ( yes, listening only because I am in front of the PC that time), I thought, oh, is she singing the right song? That is a Whitney Houston song. The theme is Dolly Parton songs. Then, Randy also agreed that her rendition was much like that of Whitney's for the theme song of the movie "The Bodyguard". But, it is really a Dolly Parton song. Maybe, when Whitney sang it, it became more popular? Or, are we talking of age now? Yes, I am a kid of the 70's and 80's! LOL!

Syesha sang it well though. And I am sure you all know that Ramielle is out. Who could be the next American Idol? I like David Cook. How about you?

Heads or Tails- Fool

o noble fool ! a worthy fool ! (as you like it)

Let me share the number 5 of The Top 10 Worst April Fool's Day Hoaxes Ever i got from museumofhoaxes.com.

#5: A Fake Hanging
Randy Wood's marriage was over, but apparently he was still a little bitter about the divorce. So he decided to play a prank on his ex-wife. He called her up and asked her to come over, telling her that he had something to show her. Obligingly she drove over, only to find him hanging by a noose from a tree in his front yard. Terrifed, she immediately dialed 911. Emergency services, including firefighters, policemen, and paramedics, soon showed up. But when they went to cut Wood down they discovered he wasn't dead. He wasn't even hurt. He had strung himself up as a prank to scare his ex-wife, using a lineman's harness similar to those used by utility crews. The authorities warned that he would face a fine of up to $1,000 and a year in jail for his prank.

Actually, that happened recently to a friend of mine who broke up with his boyfriend. The boyfriend asked his mom to send an SMS announcing his death. Would you do that to get someone you love back? Now that is a foolish love.
